As everyone expected that the end to the uncharted game series will be its 4th part which was “Uncharted 4: A thief’s end” because there were no places to put the characters into next. But even with all these rumors, we’re still not sure whether we’ll ever get a direct sequel to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Uncharted 5 could very well be a soft reboot with a new protagonist, who’s related to Drake, according to the last game’s ending, which made people ask the question ‘will there be a new Uncharted game? ‘
But don’t give up just yet, because many are still hopeful that we’ll get a new Uncharted game at some point. An Uncharted 5 is still very much on the minds of many fans, and even more so after a rather subtle tease surfaced in a Sony ad called ‘Live from PS5. ‘
The trailer showed off footage from games such as God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West, but the one clip that caught everyone’s eye showed a young woman blowing the dust off an ancient artifact in a tomb-like setting. Many fans believe that it could be Cassie, Nathan Drake and Elena’s daughter, who was introduced in the epilogue of Uncharted 4. So far, there has been no official word on Uncharted 5, but PlayStation fans are hoping to hear more soon.
Apart from that teaser scene, another possible piece of evidence came from a PlayStation job listing last year, which was looking for a senior producer to ‘co-develop an exciting new project with Naughty Dog in a beloved franchise. ‘ Fans immediately wondered if this could be a new Uncharted game, considering Naughty Dog’s history with the series. With Naughty Dog notorious for keeping things under wraps, we’ll have to wait and see what they have in store for us next, but it’s safe to say that this is likely to be one of their next big projects.
According to RadioTimes. com, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann said in an interview with Buzzfeed about a possible sequel;
“For us, Uncharted was insanely successful — Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”
But one of Naughty Dog’s senior vice presidents, Neil Druckmann, has said he doesn’t see the original developers making a new Uncharted. Druckmann said Uncharted 4 “finished off” Nathan Drake’s story. “It’s possible there could be a spin-off with Chloe and Nadine, ” he said. “But I don’t think there’s going to be a direct sequel, especially with all the focus Naughty Dog’s putting into The Last of Us Part 3 and beyond. “
Still, the PlayStation faithful aren’t giving up just yet. A report from Bloomberg claimed a team at Sony Bend was tasked with creating a new Uncharted game under Naughty Dog’s guidance. Though it’s been nearly two years since that report, some wonder if this is the project teased in the “Live from PS5” ad. Could an announcement for Uncharted 5 be on the way? Only time will tell, but for now, fans will continue to speculate without an answer to the question of ‘will there be a new Uncharted game? ‘.
