As everyone expected that the end to the uncharted game series will be its 4th part which was “Uncharted 4: A thief’s end” because there were no places to put the characters into next. But, based on all these rumors, it’s unknown if a direct follow-up to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will ever occur. Uncharted 5 may very well be a soft reboot that features a new leading character, albeit one with ties to Drake, as indicated by the last game’s ending bringing the question “will there be a new uncharted game?” to trendy on the internet.
Fans of the Uncharted series haven’t given up hope, and many are still holding out for a potential new Uncharted game. The prospect of an Uncharted 5 remains a popular topic of speculation, especially after a subtle hint appeared in a Sony ad titled “Live from PS5.”
The ad featured scenes from well-known games like God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West, but it was the brief clip of a young woman blowing dust off an ancient relic in a tomb-like setting that caught fans’ attention. This led to speculation that it might be Cassie, the daughter of Nathan Drake and Elena, introduced in the epilogue of Uncharted 4. Despite these rumors, no official announcement has been made about Uncharted 5, leaving PlayStation fan eager for news.
Aside from that ambiguous scene, another potential clue emerged from a PlayStation job listing last year. The listing was for a senior producer to “co-develop an exciting new project with Naughty Dog in a beloved franchise.” Naturally, fans speculated whether this could be a new Uncharted game, given Naughty Dog’s history with the series. While Naughty Dog is known for being secretive, many believe this could be one of their next big projects.
According to RadioTimes.com, in an interview with Buzzfeed, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann said the following about a possible sequel:
“For us, Uncharted was insanely successful — Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”
However, words from Neil Druckmann, one of Naughty Dog’s key figures, have cast doubt on the possibility of the original developers creating a new Uncharted. According to Druckmann, Uncharted 4 served as a fitting end to Nathan Drake’s story. While a spin-off featuring Chloe and Nadine might be possible, the chances of a direct continuation seem slim, especially when Naughty Dog appears to be focusing more on The Last of Us Part 3 and other projects.
Still, the PlayStation fan base is not without hope. A Bloomberg report suggested that a team from Sony Bend had been tasked with working on a new Uncharted game under Naughty Dog’s supervision. Although nearly two years have passed without any official confirmation, some wonder if this is the project subtly teased in the “Live from PS5” ad. Could this indicate that an announcement for Uncharted 5 is on the horizon? Only time will tell, but for now, fans will continue speculating not really having an answer to the question “will there be a new uncharted game?”.
